You’re sick and tired of hearing how you need to “get in the game” and get back into online dating. You’ve thought about it, and you’ve decided…IT’S TIME. The last time you dated online was when Miley was still Hannah Montana, and you know things have changed a bit since then.
You’ve heard people talk about eharmony and Match and Christian Mingle, but you’re picky, you know? You’re unique and not like everyone else. You’ve always known your marriage story would be different than others’, so why would you go mainstream in your search for matches?
Thankfully, in the years you’ve been off the online dating grid, there have been all kinds of technological developments along the lines of niche dating sites and dating apps. But still, you don’t want to ask anyone for help or advice, so you head to Google to do a bit of research.
You gather up your gumption, resolve, and whatever else you’ve got (a bit of crazy, maybe?) and determine to not get off the internets until you’ve signed up for SOMEthing…
And then you realize this dating niche site thing is FOR REAL. There are a ton of online dating sites you never knew existed. The fields are white unto harvest…
So you tell yourself it’s okay to just take a look, examine your options, see what’s out there…
There is a site for beautiful people (finally!) and it has over 750k members…
When you find out more than 6 million people submit photos, but only 1 in 8 are accepted as “beautiful” by community members…
There is an online dating site for Geeks…
So you start honing your geekier skills. The Apostle Paul spoke of becoming all things to all people, after all…
But then you spot an online dating site specifically for vegetarians and decide that might be more down your alley because you’ve really been digging kale lately…
And then you remember how you ate a 20 oz. ribeye just last night, and it was GOOD…
So you keep scrolling. Until you stumble upon a dating site based on a mutual love for books…
And while you do enjoy the written word (you have your own library card, after all), you also discover a different site for military singles, and well, who doesn’t love a uniform?
Farmers, prison inmates, Star Trek fans, Aggies, Scuba Divers, the niche online dating site list just keeps growing…
And you find that instead of being encouraged that there are multitudes of singles out there who are looking for dates, too, you’re starting to feel worse about things…
Maybe you’re not as unique as you originally thought you were…
Maybe you’re more along the lines of “normal”?
So you decide to stick to mainstream online dating and sign up for eharmony because maybe those “typical” love stories are a lot better than finding a prison pen pal.
