Question: Does Match.com Work?
Answer: Well, now, that’s a pretty subjective question, isn’t it? The easy answer would be that it just depends on whom you ask. But you don’t come around here for the easy answer, so we’ll not go that route. Instead, we’ll tell you what our surveys, feedback, and anecdotal evidence has been revealing over the past few years.
Does Match.com Work? For some, yes.
When it comes to Christian singles and online dating, our surveys reveal eharmony to be the site most Christian singles like best. Of course that could change the next time we conduct a survey, and if it does, we’ll let you know. For now, eharmony ranks the highest, but Match is not too far behind.
When it comes to stories being shared with us, we have been contacted about far more about marriages begun through eharmony than any of the other sites we review. But we’ve also had Christians tell us they met on Match.com and got married. So it’s possible. Keep reading for tips from Christian singles who have used Match.com…
Here’s what we’ve heard from folks using Match to find Christian dates:
When MJ, a girl from small town Wisconsin, participated in our 3-month Online Dating Experiment using Match.com, she wasn’t successful in finding a date. She communicated with a handful of guys, but nothing ever transitioned to a real life meeting.
In contrast, when Lauren from Dallas decided to use Match.com for 3 months after she had an unsuccessful 3 months on eharmony, she really liked it. She went on several dates, communicated with 11 guys, and considered 4 of them to have real potential.
When asked if she thought her geography played a role in her finding more matches, Lauren thought it was possible. Although she was quick to point out that she had several other friends on Match who had been unsuccessful. She attributes some of her success to giving online dating more than a quick try of a few weeks or even a month. She went all in.
But does Match.com work when it comes to marriage?
It’s true that we have a larger percentage of marriage stories from people who met on eharmony and got married, and that’s about right for the responses we get from Christians.
But Lynn reached out to us to let us know she and her husband Allen met on Match.com and are now married. (Bonus: She chose to get on Match after reading our SingleRoots Match.com review.) She admitted she was reluctant to try online dating at all, but now would recommend it to others.
There’s no real way we can answer a question about Match actually working for everyone. It works for some and others it doesn’t. It is one of the more highly rated sites we review, so our advice is to just try it out and see. And if you do decide to join the site, then check out our post, “How to Get a Match.com Discount.”
