Christian Mingle vs. Christian Café :: #RealTalk
When it comes to a showdown between Christian Mingle vs. Christian Cafe, the decision isn’t as clear-cut as we’d hoped it would be. If it were simply a matter of which site is owned by Christians, we’d choose Christian Café in a heartbeat. But when it comes to a competition between these two sites, there’s just a little more to our decision than simply ownership. (Read our extensive review of Christian Mingle and Christian Cafe to learn more about each site individually.)
Christian Mingle vs. Christian Café :: Similarities
Control: Unlike eharmony, both Christian Mingle and Christian Café give users control of their search for matches. Both sites allow you to search for matches down to denominational preferences, but Christian Café allows you to search even further into level of church involvement.
One of the things we often discuss in our online dating reviews is that it can be difficult to find like-minded believers online. Christian Café allows users to search based on your faith. There are options for “It defines who I am,” “Still trying to figure it out,” or the basic “I believe in God.”
Price: A one-month membership on both sites is the same price, around $35. As with most online dating sites, the more months you pay for, the higher discount you will receive. A three-month membership on both sites runs around $16/month, and a six-month membership is around $11-13/month.
Christian Mingle vs. Christian Café :: Differences
Christian Ownership: Like we mentioned earlier, despite the term “Christian,” only one of these sites is owned by a specifically Christian company—Christian Café. Christian Mingle is owned by Spark Networks, a company that targets a variety of online dating demographics, including JDate (Jewish) and LDSSingles (Mormon).
Membership Numbers: In 2013, Christian Mingle had 9 million registered users. We’re not sure the numbers Christian Café is running, but we know it’s nowhere near Christian Mingle. Check out our Christian Café review to see the number of matches we found when we did searches for both men and women in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Christian Mingle vs. Christian Café :: The Verdict
Most things being equal, we still have to give Christian Mingle the slight edge over Christian Café simply because of the number of members. When people sign up for online dating, having a large number of matches to choose from is arguably the most important factor. Since memberships cost the same, it’s difficult to call Christian Café a winner since they’re lacking the millions of users that Christian Mingle has.
