In July, Sarah shared about her first month as a paid member on eharmony. Sarah lives in a small town in Georgia, so she chose eharmony, which is one of the largest—if not the largest—online dating site there is.
But when you’re in a small town even having the largest pool of matches to choose from can still prove difficult. Now Sarah has completed her second month. Was it any better than her first? Here’s what she had to say:
So you’ve been using eharmony for 2 months now. How’s it going?
Sarah: Wellll… I wouldn’t say it’s been great, but I haven’t given up yet either. I’ve initiated guided communication with several matches, but I’ve had no responses.
How many dates have you been on? Do any of them have potential?
Sarah: None. It’s a little disheartening that I haven’t even had any solid communication in two months’ time.
Have you learned anything about yourself or your dating preferences in the process?
Sarah: I have learned a pretty good but about my preferences. I have realized that age is more important to me than I initially thought. It’s seems that my matches are getting younger and younger, and I’m just not very comfortable with a 6-7 year age gap.
Online dating has also made question my availability as far as dating and relationships go. I have a very busy schedule and I don’t have as much time to devote to “working” on this whole online dating experience as I thought I would. It’s really made me wonder if I’m even ready for a relationship due to my hectic schedule. It’s definitely been food for thought.
You’ve had time to get a feel for the site by now, what do you most like about the site and what do you like least?
Sarah: I’ve only used the mobile app. I’m very limited in my time at home to use my computer. Part of me wonders if that’s one reason I’ve seen little success. Is the website easier to manage or use? Am I missing things on the mobile app? I’m making myself promise to use the actual computer and website more this upcoming month.
On a scale of “This is the most fun I’ve had in a really long time!” to “I’m ready to throw my computer in the river!” how do you currently feel about the process?
Sarah: I’m leaning toward visiting the river soon… 🙂 Even so, I will stick it out this last month and see what happens.
