If you’re new to these parts, last month we launched our SingleRoots Online Dating Experiment. The gist: We gave away 3-month online dating subscriptions to each of the top-rated online dating sites in our Best Christian Dating Sites reviews. In exchange, the recipients will allow us to ride along on their online dating experience. And by “ride along,” we don’t mean we’re actually going on a date with them; the recipients just promise to share their experiences with us.
Caitlyn is 24 years old and from Aurora, Colorado. (You can read her introductory interview here.) She received a 3-month subscription to Christian Crush. When we checked in with Caitlyn about her first month, here’s what she had to say:
On a scale of 1 to solving a Rubik’s cube, how difficult was the process of signing up and completing your profile?
Caitlyn: As long as you can read and type, you can create a profile. Took hardly anytime at all.
What are your first impressions?
Caitlyn: Ummmmmm, I’m not very hopeful. The prospects on this particular site are lacking.
Have you had any dates yet?
Caitlyn: I have not had any dates as of now.
What is the most frustrating thing about online dating so far?
Caitlyn: I’ve sent a few emails/smiles here and there and have had no responses. The guys who I do NOT find appealing are the ones who email/smile at me. Story of my life. Ha.
What’s been the most exciting thing about online dating so far?
Caitlyn: The most exciting part of online dating is getting an email saying someone is interested in you; but that can also be the most disappointing when you view their profile and you think “Really?! Creeper McCreepins.”
Okay, so you’re one month in. On a scale of 1 to Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch, how do you feel about online dating at this point?
Caitlyn: Let’s just say I hardly check my profile now compared to when I first started online dating. I’m a 1.5. :/
