[Editor’s Note: Keep reading to find out why we cannot in good conscience recommend PerfectMatch.com. To find out other online dating options for Christians, though, check out our Best Christian Dating Sites reviews.]
Originally, we wrote a PerfectMatch.com review in order to include it in our individual assessments of each of the online dating companies in our Best Christian Dating Sites post.
Like some of you, the first time we ever heard of this site was in the movie Must Love Dogs. You know…the Diane Lane/John Cusack classic rom-com. (No, not Serendipity.) Talk about product placement. After the movie aired, when people would sign up for a PerfectMatch.com account, they were asked how they heard of the site. “I saw it on Must Love Dogs” was an option. It wasn’t a bad marketing strategy.
PerfectMatch.com is another site that is not exclusively Christian, like Christian Mingle, but we knew Christians used it as a tool for finding the loves of their lives—or at least a date. So we included a PerfectMatch.com review in our list. However, Perfect Match is no longer in business; they now refer members and prospective customers to their partner site, FriendFinder.
Here’s why we did not recommend Perfect Match and why we cannot recommend FriendFinder:
The deeper we continue to dive into the world of online dating, the more discoveries we make. People reach out to us from time to time and ask about different dating sites. Sometimes they want us to review a certain site; sometimes they just want to know if we know anything about a certain site.
We’ve had people ask us to review BigChurch.com, and in doing so, we learned that its parent company, FriendFinder Networks, is in a partnership with Penthouse Media. In discovering that information, we also realized that PerfectMatch.com was also owned by FriendFinder Networks.
PerfectMatch is just one of many niche sites within the FriendFinder Network. At first it seems like a list of sites targeting various demographics—French, Asian, German, Indian, etc. But the list grows into over two dozen sites that are far less, shall we say, “wholesome.”
Since we originally wrote our PerfectMatch.com review long before we knew about the FriendFinder Networks/Penthouse Media Group connection, we realized it was important to revise our review and to let our readers know that we do not recommend PerfectMatch.com or FriendFinder.com as an online dating site.
Whether or not you are Christian and choose FriendFinder as your online dating vehicle is up to you. However, when it comes to the sites that we review and/or recommend, we cannot in good conscience do anything to support the pornographic industry, nor would we want to direct our readers to do so.
As we continue to learn more about the multi-faceted world of online dating, and as things are brought to our attention, we will make adjustments to our data like we did for this PerfectMatch.com review.
