You know, when we started this Online Dating Experiment three months ago, we didn’t know what we’d find so we didn’t put any expectations on it. It was only an “experiment.” But since we’re not really scientists, we didn’t get all scientific with it. No hypotheses or anything. Our only goal was to just see what would happen.
So now, here we are, three months later, and what have we learned? In a nutshell, we’ve learned that there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to online dating. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another.
Remember Lauren, our very first participant? Her three months on eharmony turned out to be fruitless, but one month after the end of her eharmony stint, she tried Match.com and hit the jackpot. Contrast that with MJ, who has spent three months on Match.com and seen very little interaction with her matches.
The other important thing we’ve seen from this experiment is that nearly all of our participants, no matter their experience, have still advised others to try online dating because of how much you are able to learn about yourself and others.
When we checked in with our participants for their final interviews, here’s what they had to say about the Online Dating Experiment. We’ve included their past interviews, as well, in case you’re new to the experiment.
