eharmony Canada Review :: Is It Any Better Than the Others?
Once upon a time there were pretty much 2 big online dating players: Match and eharmony. But as the World of Online Dating keeps growing and growing, it’s more difficult to figure out what’s best—especially if you’re a Christian who is looking for a like-minded Christian match.
Free dating apps are all the rage right now, but are they as likely to help you find a mate as a traditional dating site like eharmony? And who wants to shell out money for a site like eharmony when you can get an app on your phone for free?
So we think the best thing to do is to look at each site individually. Is eharmony the best online dating site for Canadian Christians? That answer depends.
eharmony Canada Review :: Is It the Best for Me in My Situation?
1. If You’re Not Technologically Savvy, You Should Go with eharmony Canada
If you always still pay your bills by writing a paper check or if you think Facebook is about to start charging people to use it, then it’s good to know that eharmony is the least technical of all of the online dating websites. It’s modern and it still requires a little getting used to for the Web 1.0 crew, but overall there are less bells and whistles like chat rooms and technicalities that are on other sites. In a word, it’s clean and well designed.
2. If Your Biggest Concern Is the Number of Like-Minded Christian Matches You Will Receive, You Will Probably Like the Numbers with eharmony Canada
The two oldest and biggest online dating sites are eharmony and Match.com. It kinda goes without saying that if you want an abundance of Christian online dating matches (and who doesn’t really?), then you’re going to have to go with a site that has a well-established database—especially if you live in a small town or rural area.
Granted, neither of the 2 big sites are without flaws. Even with millions of members, they both still have a ton who are inactive or non-paying. But your options are far greater on a site like eharmony than a fledgling start-up. And there’s something to be said about the seriousness of matches who will pay for online dating versus people who want and can flake out at anytime.
3. If You Want to Jump on Quickly Just to Look at Available Matches, That’s Not Gonna Happen with eharmony Canada
And that’s a good thing, we think. They do an extensive personality assessment when you set up your account. We think this personality assessment, along with strict settings, helps you find like-minded Christian matches better than on any other online dating site. You’re able to express the importance of your faith to you, what your denominational preference is, as well as tell their algorithm how important it is to you to find a match who is also a Christ follower.
But be prepared to set aside a good 20 minutes or so to take the personality assessment when you’re setting up your eharmony Canada account. It won’t take forever, but it isn’t 20 questions or less.
4. If You’re a Control Freak, You Might Not Like eharmony Canada
If you’re a self-professed—or even a closeted—Control Freak, then you’re probably not going to like eharmony as much as a site like Match. eharmony doesn’t let you see their entire database of matches; they dole them out daily to you. Match.com, on the other hand, throws open their database doors and says, “Make yourself at home.”
But if you can throw caution to the wind, let go of a little control, and give the eharmony process a chance, even the most controlling of us might find that what eharmony does is wade through all of those surplus matches who aren’t Christian or who wouldn’t be a good match for you. Time Saver = #winning
5. If You’re Serious About Getting Married, You Might Be Pleased with eharmony Canada.
Time and time again, we’ve heard from believers who’ve met their spouse on eharmony. Sure, we hear about marriages from other sites, too, but far more met on eharmony than other sites. We think the amount of money they charge—although we’d prefer that it was less—is reasonable considering the friends we have who’ve found that their site works.
eharmony Canada Review :: Does It Fit My Budget?
But here’s the real question, right? Who cares if there are a million solid Christian men or women within a 5-mile radius of your house—if it costs too much you’re out, right?
So eharmony is the more expensive of the online dating sites. That’s not to say it costs an arm and a leg, but it is true that even among the paid sites, there are slightly cheaper options than eharmony. But it’s not significant, so we still think eharmony is worth it to pay a little more.
So for starters, if you choose a one-month only approach, you’re looking at paying around $60 for that one month. As is the case for most online dating, if you pay for more than one month at a time, then you can save money. For instance, if you secured a 6-month membership, that price could run around $39.95 a month or as low as $24.95 a month for a 12-month membership.
Membership pricing is dynamic and the offers they make you depend on a lot of different factors, but we always list the coupons we know of in the links at the bottom of this post. Because who wants to pay full price for anything?
eharmony Canada Review :: Our Recommendation
As Christians who are single, we spend a lot of time checking out the different online dating sites and apps trying to figure out if any of them have the Golden Ticket when it comes to matchmaking methods. Unfortunately, none of them do. They’re all imperfect, but if we’re choosing the best option out there for Christian singles to find like-minded Christian matches, then we’re going to go with eharmony Canada.
It’s easier to use than the other sites, it has a database with numbers in the millions, a pretty spot-on personality assessment (even if it is lengthy), and it helps you wade through all of their matches and get to the ones you probably will be most interested in.
Bottom Line: It’s worth it to at least try out eharmony Canada. Even if you don’t find the love of your life, the chances that your dating life will get a little more active are definitely higher than doing nothing. (Don’t forget to try it for 3 months before quitting, too!)
