As we were reviewing the Collide Christian Dating app, we had some questions about it, and as we talked to a few of our readers who also tried the app out, it seemed some of them had questions, too. So we reached out to the creators of Collide. Nelson Wang, CEO of Collide Apps, responded to our questions. Here’s what he had to say:
What made you decide to create Collide?
Nelson: Our goal has been and always will be to help create deep and meaningful connections among Christians. We believe that having similar values and the same religious background creates a stronger level of comfort and helps to create deeper connections among Christian singles. We believe our members will love being able to connect with people who belong in similar communities. The quality of your match is really important to the mobile dating experience. What better way to enhance this than by focusing on a really important part of your life? It immediately gives two people a way to truly connect with each other.
What is the religious background of the founders? Are you considered a Christian business?
Nelson: We prefer not to comment on our religious backgrounds and want to remain focused on providing the best community experience possible. At the end of the day, this app isn’t about us, it’s about our users and hopefully the love that they find.
Are there areas of the U.S. that you’re seeing a higher concentration of users than others? Do you know why that is?
Nelson: We’ve seen a high level of interest and engagement from Europe (specifically Amsterdam), the East Coast and San Francisco so far. It’s been interesting to see how popular the app has become globally and we’re excited to see what other regions will embrace Collide as well!
What’s the price of the premium membership?
Nelson: Today you can purchase additional features like the estimated distance from a user for 99 cents and the ability to see mutual friends for 99 cents as well. Each of those features is paid per potential match. For example, you would pay 99 cents to see the mutual friends for one potential match and once you went to the next potential match, you’d have the option to purchase that feature again. There is also a premium feature for denomination filtering (You can narrow your search by denomination) for $4.99 as well. Collide Premium offers unlimited usage of all features like Mutual Friends, Lists and Denomination filtering and is $19.99.
Now that it’s been out for a week and you’re getting feedback from users, are there any future plans or updates you’re planning?
Nelson: Yes, absolutely! We’d like to incorporate a few new features including:
*Adding more information to the profile to make help give more insight into the potential match (We’ve surveyed Christians and feel that we can make the profile questions much more engaging)
*Adding the ability to see the profile pictures in full view
*Building an Android version
