Those of us who’ve used eharmony might’ve been a little miffed when watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and saw Walter get a personalized phone call and help with his eharmony account.

It would’ve been nice to have our own Todd from eharmony to help us sort through what is lacking on our profiles or occasionally help us overcome…well, ourselves.
Of course not coincidentally, Todd from eharmony debuted in the movie about the same time eharmony rolled out their new eharmony Plus service. (See what they did there?)
Unfortunately, Patton Oswalt isn’t the eharmony Plus rep on the other end of the line, but there are real people who take the matchmaking process offline. All matchmakers have advanced degrees in psychology and work with you to help find the right people based on your personality and dating criteria.
The matchmakers handpick matches for you but before they send you any, they ensure the match has already expressed an interest in your profile.
Basically, it’s your very own Patti Stanger from Millionaire Matchmaker—minus the “millionaire” part.
What other benefits come with eharmony Plus?
For people who loathe the online dating process, eH+ is essentially an offline service. It eliminates the need to log into your account and scan countless numbers of profiles to determine if they’re even remotely what you’re looking for. If you have an eharmony account already, your matchmaker will close it once you commit to eH+. While both are owned by eharmony, eH+ is a separate service.
Once you’re paired with a matchmaker, they do the hard part of finding your matches and walk with you all along the way. They’ll not only evaluate what you are looking for in a match, they’ll help you put your best foot forward in your own profile. You communicate with your matchmaker on the phone, Skype, text, or email—whatever is easiest for your schedule.
Your matchmaker has access to the entire eharmony database, so they choose matches for you based on the personality assessment results, as well as their expertise and judgment. But they also have other tools they can use. For example, the standard eharmony matching system doesn’t take physical appearance into account, but this personal matchmaking system allows the matchmaker to take something like that into account.
How much does eharmony Plus cost?
Of course a personalized matchmaking system like this doesn’t come without a hefty price tag. If you want your very own “Todd from eharmony,” it’s going to run you around $5,000 for the year.
Who would benefit from eharmony Plus?
Obviously, if funds are tight, then eH+isn’t for you. Let’s be honest: It’s not for everyone. In fact, it’s not for the majority of people. But there are some singles who can afford this personalized service.

If you’re busy or hate the online dating process, then this is a valid option for people who have discretionary income and can afford it. And those of us who don’t…well, we’ll just be over here wading through profile after profile and thinking about the Good Life where you have someone doing that for you…
Is eharmony Plus worth it?
At this point, we don’t know of anyone who has found love using eH+. Real Talk: We don’t know anyone who could afford it either. To be fair, it’s also a relatively new service.
But if you’re interested in it and want to talk further with an eH+ matchmaker to see if it’s a good fit for you, then it doesn’t hurt to talk to them and see. There’s no cost until you commit and they take your credit card.
