SingleRoots turned 1 yesterday! 365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months. What a fun year it has been! Pass the smash cake, please. None of that cupcake business.
This little online community has been a watershed moment in our individual and collective journeys with Christ. Despite the fact that we’re not a singles’ dating advice site, we are a community. And in community, people are transparent and authentic. So, we’re going to keep it real. There are peaks and valleys to this single life. You will hear others’ stories and struggles. It is our prayer that the Holy Spirit will use them to encourage and inspire you in your own pilgrimage.
We also hope that this will be a place of information. We stand firm in our conviction that the first place we should be “rooted” is in the local church. There is no substitution for that involvement. We know that it can be difficult; we, too, have worked hard to find our place. But it is worth fighting for. My friends and I often joke that we should create an entire blog detailing our adventures in dating. I even have an entire series (in my head) devoted to online dating, including a four-part section about the male profile picture. (Guys, don’t embarrass your family by posting a shirtless photo of yourself in the bathroom mirror with a scowl. Your mama raised you better than that, and your daddy would disown you if he knew.)

There are a million (well, maybe not a million) sites out there about dating. And a million (well, maybe more like a hundred) more about being a Christian and dating. And then there are a couple dozen more about Christian dating and remaining pure and holy.
But few ever really address that there’s more to us than our relationship status. Sure, we all date. We’ve been in and out of relationships and we’ve weathered a few storms in between. Most of us still hope for marriage one day.
